Lac
du Causse Corrézien
"Causse Corrézien"
lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. With its 100
acres of water, and wind-sheltered location it is the ideal site for
rowing, offering fair racing conditions to all competitors.
Thanks to the creation of the "Rowing 1999-2009" plan by
Brive-la-Gaillarde City, the "Syndicate of Causse Corrézien"
and its partners (State, Department, City Council and the “Club
des Sports Nautiques de Brive“), a 3 million euro budget has
been allocated to bring the rowing facilities at the lake up to International
Rowing Federation (FISA) requirements.
This exceptional place, improved by the investments made, came up
to national standard in 1999, European standard in 2001 and full FISA
international standard in 2004.
The lake
is now suitable for national and international events (e.g. the French
Rowing Championships and the World University Rowing Championships).
For the coming years, the lake hopes to welcome further World Championships,
as well as French national team and foreign training and selection
camps during preparation for the London Olympic Games in 2012.
